Harrismith - Martin Brits and Elliot Mhlambi will remain behind bars in Harrismith until their court appearance next Monday.
They are both believed to have been involved in the brutal killing of a local reverend who is also Martin's father, Willem Brits, and his future son-in-law, Gerhardus Vermeulen. OFM News understands that the two suspects met each other in prison in Frankfort, where Martin did time for fraud. The details of Mhlambi's criminal record is unknown to police at this stage.
Police spokesperson, Mmako Mophiring, says Martin is expected to submit an admission of guilt soon, but not Mhlambi.
Willem and his wife, Dorothea, were attacked with an axe in their home on Thursday evening. Willem died the following morning, and Dorothea is still in a critical condition in Mediclinic Bloemfontein. Vermeulen was shot dead.
The couple's daughter, Thea, was unharmed.
