Bloemfontein – JP Duminy scored an unbeaten 150 in his first international match since injuring his Achilles tendon against Australia last year. Duminy blasted his way to a career best score when the Proteas beat the Netherlands by 84-runs at the VRA Ground in Amstelveen earlier today.

Duminy’s innings included 5 fours and 8 sixes to help steer the South Africans to 341 for 3 off their allotted 50 overs. Faf du Plessis supported Duminy well win an unbeaten 60 off just 42 balls to setup a 152-run fourth wicket partnership off 79-deliveries. Colin Ingram helped lay a solid foundation for both Duminy and Du Plessies with a superb knock of 82 of 106 deliveries.

Mudassar Bukhari was the best bowler for the Dutch with figures of two for 79 in his 10 overs.

Vanderbijlpark-born Eric Szwarczynski led the Netherlands charge with 98 runs before being run-out by Farhaan Behardien. Szwarczynski’s career best score came off 116 balls which included 11 fours.

A good allround bowling performance by the Proteas restricted the Dutch to 257 for 9 off their allotted 50 overs. Spinner Robin Petersen top the bowling for the South Africans with figures of 67 for 4 off 10 overs, while Farhaan Berhadien picked-up two scalps for 34 off 8 overs.

The Proteas decided to rest Dale Steyn, Morné Morkel and David Miller following their busy Indian Premier League campaign. Proteas ODI captain opted not to bat himself as he also had a lot of time at the crease during the IPL.

The Proteas next face Pakistan at The Oval in London on 3 June in their next Champions Trophy warm-up match. They will play Pakistan again on the 10th of June in the Champions Trophy at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
