Oscar Pistorius back in court tomorrow

───   05:46 Mon, 03 Jun 2013

Pretoria - Paralympic athlete Oscar Pistorius will be back in court tomorrow over the Valentine's Day killing of his girlfriend, just days after graphic photos of the blood-spattered crime scene were leaked. Pistorius will appear in the Pretoria Magistrates court for a pre-trial hearing with both the defence and prosecution saying the case is likely to be swiftly adjourned while detectives continue their investigation. The "Blade Runner" claims he shot Reeva Steenkamp through a locked bathroom door in the early hours of February 14 after mistaking her for an intruder. But the prosecution argues it was premeditated murder, a crime that carries a maximum sentence of life in prison. Pistorius, the first double amputee to compete against able-bodied athletes at the Olympics last year, is currently out on bail of R1 million. On Friday, Britain's Sky News broadcast leaked images showing the bloodied bathroom of Pistorius's Pretoria home where Steenkamp was shot. His family have meanwhile expressed shock at the photos.
