Fouriesburg - The picturesque Free State town of Fouriesburg, which is situated along the Maluti Drakensberg Route (MDR), has been announced the winner of this year’s Kwela Kyknet Town of the Year competition.
With over 107 000 votes received, Fouriesburg beat its nearest rival, Paarl in the Western Cape, by more than 65 000 votes.
MDR chairperson Amerintia Human says they're elated over the win and she is certain the whole region voted for their town.
Human says the R1 million prize, that will be used to market Fouriesburg and so boost tourism, will greatly benefit businesses and job creation.
