The South African government says it’s negotiating with the Department of Basic Education, to ensure that the correct version of the country’s history will be taught at schools, going forward. The announcement was made on Friday, during a sod-turning ceremony for a Sol Plaatje Exhibition Hall and Garden of Remembrance for victims of the Anglo-Boer War at Bloemfontein’s War Museum. An estimated 28-000 whites, mainly women and children died in concentration camps. OFM’s Christopher Motabogi spoke to Head of the History Department at Free State University André Wessells, about this horrific war.
