Bloemfontein - The Cape Cobras won the Sunfoil Series yesterday by thumping the Lions by an innings and 165 runs at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.
The visitors wrapped up the match in the morning session before lunch by claiming the Lions last five wickets after being forced to follow on.
The Cape side scored 544 in their first innings before bowling the Lions out for a meagre 201 to enforce the following.
They made light work of bowling the highveld side out for 178 in their second innings with Dane Piedt claiming a fiver with the ball.
In Bloemfontein, the Chevrolet Knights held a determined Dolphins side to a draw, to secure the second spot in the competition.
