Bloemfontein - Oxford beat Cambridge by approximately eleven lengths to win the 160th annual University boat race on the River Thames in London.
The University of Oxford’s rowers took a lead after just five minutes when they clashed with Cambridge.
Cambridge’s two-seat Luke Juckett slipped from his position, momentarily losing his oar, allowing the rival crew to pull clear.
It allowed Oxford to post its win in approximately 18 minutes, 36 seconds.
Following the iconic boat race, a devastated American-born Juckett said the clash was part of the race.
Cambridge appealed the result, however the race referee over-ruled the appeal because he deemed Oxford to have held their race-line.
