Bloemfontein - The Free State health department will immediately begin its investigation into the dumping of medication and consumables at Pelonomi hospital in Bloemfontein.
Department spokesperson Tebogo Oepeng says an independent team of experts in the health sector will investigate the matter and those responsible will face the consequences.
Oepeng says Free State health MEC Benny Malakoane yesterday met with various roleplayers to discuss the way forward.
On Friday, premier Ace Magashule found the medication and consumables in a transit site at Pelonomi hospital during a cleaning campaign in honour of former president Nelson Mandela. He reportedly discovered new heart monitors, uniforms, syringes, and consumables, such as washing powder and toilet paper.
