Bloemfontein - A former MP and member of the Free State legislature from Bethlehem assaulted a business man from Bethlehem, Vrystaat newspaper reported on Thursday.
Tjheta Mofokeng bought airtime worth R220 at the Bethlehem 1-stop.
After having trouble loading the airtime on his phone Mofokeng returned to the filling station.
After Mofokeng arrived an employee of the filling station phoned Vodacom, who informed the employee that the network was having technical problems with its towers in the region. This was given as reason to Mofokeng.
He, however, didn't accept this and demanded the station refund him. After the owner, Beyers Cronjé, tried to explain that the station wasn't in a position to refund airtime, Mofokeng smacked Cronjé in the face.
According to the newspaper Mofokeng admitted to hitting Cronjé.
Mofokeng has an identical twin, Tjhetane, who is the mayor of the Dihlabeng municipality. Initially the employees confused the two and thought it was the mayor assaulting the owner.
Everything was caught on camera.
