Sable record price blasted to smithereens─── SABRINA DEAN 00:00 Fri, 25 Sep 2015
Yet another wildlife price record has been blasted to smithereens after a buyer paid R27-million for the sable antelope bull Mopanie during the Piet Warren Bull Auction.
The auction, held at Sable Park in Gravelotte, Limpopo, on Heritage Day reportedly realised a total turnover of R140-million.
Vleissentraal auctioneer Neil Swart says the high price tag is related to good genetics and the hope that the bull will produce progeny with good horn length:

According to Swart, Mopanie is a son of a sable bull named Piet, which is regarded as the biggest bull in the country with a horn length of well over 53 inches.
