Jessy the Labrador therapist─── THANDI XABA 15:43 Wed, 15 Oct 2014
Bloemfontein - Martie du Plessis School in Bloemfontein has employed a new occupational therapist.
Nine-week-old Jessy, the labrador, is fast becoming a favourite and if she could talk, her words would ease the hardest of hearts and calm the most tangled nerves.
The school’s occupational therapist Rachel Ruycan says Jessy will be her co-therapist in assisting in various sessions with the learners.
The school’s principle Francois van Heerden says their decision to use a dog for therapy is ideal since dogs don’t judge the kids when they make mistakes in the classroom.

It will still be a while before Jessy can be used fully for therapy purposes.
For now she’s enjoying the learners' attention and familiarising herself with her new classroom.
