Bloemfontein - South Africa is lagging behind in terms of solar power use, but with the price of electricity set to increase again, the only alternative would be to use solar power.
Ryan Steytler, of a leading product innovation company, says the country’s geographic location and huge quantities of sunlight, which are still experienced throughout the harshest winters, should be utilised.
He says South Africa should learn from a country like Germany, which feeds solar power back into its power grid, which would make a huge difference in terms of the availability of electricity.
