Brandfort - The Masilonyana municipality has denied a claim by the DA that a sewage leakage in Brandfort has led to loss of livestock in the area.
Municipal spokesperson Zongezile Ntjwabule admitted that there is a leakage but denied knowledge of any infections resulting from the overflow.
The DA said raw sewerage from the Brandfort sewerage plant is flowing into fresh water streams, contaminating water sources for use by the local population and cattle.

Ntwabule says the municipality is aware that the plant is not working properly and has appointed a contractor to attend to the situation.
