Potchefstroom - The police in North West say they have no knowledge of an alleged attempted assault involving five male students and an older man at the weekend.
Police spokesperson Mvula Chaka was responding to OFM News' queries about several posts on social media regarding the alleged incident.
According to a Facebook post on the Potchefstroom community group by Raymond Roodman, five young white men attempted to assault an older black man who had been involved in a traffic accident.
Roodman, who witnessed the alleged incident, said the older man was accompanied by an infant child. He said police did not respond to the alleged incident.
Chaka however says no such incident was reported to the local police station.
He said an official investigation can only be launched after it is reported, and urged anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward.
