FS health to appoint more community healthcare workers─── LERATO LELIA 05:48 Tue, 02 Sep 2014
Bloemfontein - The Free State department of health has contracted the services of non-governmental organisations to offer community health services and is planning to hire more community healthcare workers.
The department said in a statement it will conduct interviews with 747 selected candidates this week following which they will be placed in various local areas.
Meanwhile the province's healthcare woes are continuing elsewhere with Matsatsi Mashilo, a nursing student at Bongani hospital in Welkom, claiming she hasn’t been paid her nursing learnership stipend in over seven months.
Yesterday Treatment Action Campaign members and community healthcare workers demonstrated outside the Bloemfontein Magistrates court in solidarity with 130 of their colleagues who were arrested for picketing over their dismissals.
