Bloemfontein - The Free State government says there are still people who are registered as indigent even though they don’t qualify for the indigent register.
Olly Mlamleli, MEC of cooperative governance and human settlements, was speaking at the launch of the economic cluster in Bloemfontein on Tuesday.
Mlamleli labelled the offenders dodgy and cheaters.
She requested municipalities to update their indigent registers more regularly than once a year.
It was revealed during a parliamentary committee meeting last week in Bloemfontein that municipalities were losing money due to government employees who are registered indigent.
