Man jumps to his death at Mediclinic Bloemfontein─── 11:59 Mon, 15 Sep 2014
Bloemfontein - The man who jumped to his death from the seventh floor of Mediclinic Bloemfontein in an apparent suicide attempt, has been identified as a 19-year-old student.
Hospital spokesperson Amanda Appelgryn confirmed this to OFM News a short while ago but could not provide any further information.
She said no further information can be made available at this stage as the man's next of kin have not been informed.
OFM News has learned that:
UPDATE 12:10 -- The deceased has been identified as 19-year-old Morné van der Westhuizen. He was a second year student at Kovsies. Van Der Westhuizen's girlfriend Chrisna Botha was allegedly declared brain dead yesterday. He spent last night in Brandfort and returned to the hospital this morning.
UPDATE 12:35 -- Appelgryn could not confirm that Botha was brain dead. She was admitted with multiple injuries, including severe head trauma, after a fall from a horse. She is still in the ICU in Mediclinic Bloemfontein.
UPDATE 13:10 -- The incident happened at around 11:00 on Monday morning. Morné matriculated from Staatspresident Swart High School at Brandfort.

On 18 April 2013 a 46-year-old woman Sanli Botha also jumped to her death at the same hospital.
