Bloemfontein - The Free State Health Department says it is distressing that state mortuary workers embarked on a go-slow when the issue of non-payment of overtime has reached a point of resolution.
Spokesperson Mondli Mvambi this morning confirmed that ten staff have been suspended and will face an internal disciplinary process after embarking on a go-slow last week Friday.
The disciplinary is expected to take place next week.

Mvambi meanwhile says the department is recovering from a backlog and has also put alternate plans in place to ensure bodies can be collected timeously.
He reiterated there is no health concern and the problem is a thing of the past.
He also apologized to all members of the public who have been inconvenienced in any way due to the go-slow.
