Mahikeng pastors call on authorities to bring back bodies | News Article

Potchefstroom - The Mahikeng Ministers Fellowship, an interdenominational pastor’s partnership situated in North West, has called on Nigerian authorities to fast-track the repatriation of 80 South African’s bodies that died in Nigeria last month.

On September 12, 116 people, among them 84 South Africans, were killed in the collapse of a multi-storey guest house attached to the Synagogue Church of all Nations.

The church is run by Nigerian preacher TB Joshua. The MMF’s Reginald Mpame says it is completely unacceptable that the identification process and repatriation of the bodies has not been completed after 40 days.

An inquest into the deaths began in mid-October in Nigeria. Mpame added that the care, compassion and sense of urgency that was demonstrated by the South African government in response to the tragedy seemed to be lacking on the part of their Nigerian counterparts.
