Inaugural EFF elective conference a success: Malema─── REFILWE GAESWE 11:16 Wed, 17 Dec 2014
Bloemfontein - Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) President Julius Malema believes the party’s inaugural national elective conference was a success.
The EFF held its first four-day National People’s Assembly at the University of the Free State from Saturday until Tuesday. EFF members from various provinces gathered at the Callie Human Hall to elect new leadership.
Speaking on the last day of the conference, Malema said he was happy that the EFF defended and protected its image throughout. He said the party managed to come out of the conference more united than ever.
Malema explained that it was a conference where many people thought there would be chaotic scenes.
He said the movement rescued itself from a potential collapse though some members might have not been happy with the outcomes.
Malema said he hasn’t spoken to Andile Mngxitama who declined three different nominations throughout the conference and pleaded with Malema to “protect the movement”.
Malema emphasized that he also hasn’t been in contact with the EFF’s former national coordinator Mpho Ramakatsa, who was not elected as part of the new top six national officials on Sunday.
Ramakatsa had been Malema’s right hand man since the formation of the party and his proposed position, EFF General Secretary, was shockingly won by Godrich Gardee.
