Mahikeng - The EFF has until Friday to respond to a letter from the North West Legislature regarding its whip, Papiki Babuile.
This follows after Babuile was convicted for the murder of the late Regional Secretary of the ANC, David Chika.
The Legislature had previously written to the party requesting clarity around Babuile’s status and eligibility to occupy a seat.
The EFF failed to acknowledge receipt of a letter from the Speaker, which lead to a follow-up letter on Monday. Spokesperson in the Office of the Speaker Teboho Chaane says another failure from the party to respond within five days of receipt of the last letter would lead the Legislature to immediately suspend Babuile’s salary and initiate the processes that will lead to the termination of his position at the Legislature.
Chaane says one point they would like clarity on is Babuile's appeal against his sentence.
