Lifts at Pelonomi faulty due to theft by government officials | News Article

Bloemfontein - The lifts at the Pelonomi District Hospital in Bloemfontein are not working due to theft by government officials employed at the hospital.

Tebogo Oepeng, spokesperson for provincial Health MEC Benny Malakoane, told OFM News that a police raid, in which stolen hospital equipment to the value of about R450 000 was seized, is part of the reason why the hospital's lifts are faulty.

Four suspects – employees at the hospital – were arrested during the raid yesterday.

Oepeng said the same people are suspected of stealing taps which lead to the ceiling flooding, causing damage to the wiring of the lifts.
