HOD held at gunpoint in Bloemfontein─── 13:10 Wed, 22 Apr 2015
Bloemfontein - Police in Bloemfontein have refused to release the name of a 47-year old government HOD, who together with his wife, were held at gunpoint and robbed at their home in Pellissier last night.
Police spokesperson, Chaka Marope, says the couple arrived home at around 21:00. While they were waiting in their car to gain access to their property through an electronic gate, they were approached by three armed men.
According to Marope the couple were tied up with string inside their vehicle.
He says the senior level official was hit with a firearm on the head when he tried to resist the robbers.
Marope says the Toyota Yaris was later found abandoned in Batho in Bloemfontein. A case of vehicle hijacking and house robbery has been opened.

No arrests have been made.
The HOD was treated at a local hospital.
