Ngwathe must appoint CFO by July─── 15:16 Fri, 22 May 2015
Parys - A report by the portfolio committee on public accounts and finance, tabled in the provincial legislature yesterday states that the Ngwathe Municipality, which includes Parys, must appoint a chief financial officer by July.
The report notes that the municipality must take urgent steps to ensure the position is filled by a person with the required skills and capacity.
Ngwathe formed part of a group of 13 municipalities in the Free State that had their equitable share withheld because of their outstanding Eskom and Water Boards accounts.
Some municipalities have received their money in the meantime, after their payment plans were accepted by National Treasury.
