Bloemfontein - The late Kovsie lecturer, Lehlohonolo Mathengtheng, who was murdered in September 2014 in his Willows townhouse, has received his PhD posthumously.
His mother, Belina Mere, was at hand to receive his PhD in Microbiology and Virology at the University's winter graduation ceremony on his behalf.
Mere told OFM News that she is both sad and happy.
At the time of his murder Mathengtheng had completed five of the six chapters towards his thesis.

After his death, his promoter, Felicity Burt, received permission to complete his thesis and submit it for examination. Burt said in a statement that the beloved Kovsie lecturer presented his work with such enthusiasm that he enthralled audiences, and inspired younger students.
