NC municipalities' disclaimers during last audit period highlighted─── 11:15 Sat, 04 Jul 2015
Kimberley - Municipalities in the Northern Cape make up a big chunk of the total number of municipalities in the country that received disclaimers during the last audit period.
Deputy Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Andries Nel, referring to the Auditor General's report on municipalities for the 2013/2014 financial year, says 50 municipalities nationally got disclaimers.
Speaking to the political leadership and senior officials of municipalities in the Northern Cape on Friday, Nel said 25 municipalities received disclaimers for more than five successive years.
The Northern Cape Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs was hosting a local government summit to discuss some of the problems and challenges experienced by municipalities in the province.
