Provincial Treasury annual performance plan before SCOPA─── CATHY DLODLO 11:46 Tue, 28 Jul 2015
Bloemfontein - Progress on the state of finances of two Free State provincial departments, Education and Health, is expected to be discussed in the provincial legislature today.
The matters are expected to be discussed during a sitting of the Standing Committee of Public Accounts in the Free State Legislature. The annual performance plan of provincial treasury, which is currently managing the finances of these departments, is on the agenda for the meeting.
Meanwhile the provincial government has reacted strongly to a statement by the DA in the province that the Free State government is bankrupt.
DA Chief Whip David van Vuuren said the provincial department of Social Development failed to pay subsidies to Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), the Education Department failed to pay out a bursary and was taken to court, and the Health Department failed to pay salaries of medical doctors and nurses earlier this year.
