Bloemfontein - The Free State Department of Education has confirmed the resignation of Lenard MacKay at Dr CF Visser Primary School in Bloemfontein.
The teacher, who was found guilty of racism two years ago while teaching at Wilgehof Primary in the city, handed in his resignation at CF Visser, yesterday.
Education spokesperson Howard Ndaba says the department applauds the School Governing Body for accepting his resignation.
Ndaba says they are currently preparing for the arbitration case on August 7, in which they will have to defend their decision to dismiss MacKay in 2013.

He was found guilty of racism and hate speech after complaints were laid against him for calling his students monkeys and the k-word.
