No mass resignation of teachers in North West: department─── DANE BEISHEIM 07:34 Fri, 14 Aug 2015
Potchefstroom - The more than 900 teaching vacancies in the North West province are not the result of a mass resignation.
This is according to Education Department spokesperson, Elias Malindi, after it emerged at a recent provincial Education Portfolio Committee meeting that more than 900 posts were left vacant between June and July this year.
Malindi says the positions became vacant following deaths, retirements and dismissals in addition to resignations.
He says the situation is not as dire as the Democratic Alliance is making it out to be.
The DA has said it will write to provincial MEC Wendy Matsemela to request a timeline for the filling of the vacancies.
