Matjhabeng to take drastic action against non-payers─── REFILWE GAESWE 07:47 Fri, 28 Aug 2015
Welkom - The Matjhabeng Municipality says it will take drastic steps against consumers with outstanding water accounts.
Spokesperson Kgojane Matutle says the Municipality on Wednesday issued notices to non-payers requesting them to settle their accounts. This after the Sedibeng Water Board announced that it would cut Matjhabeng’s water supply due to non-payment.
Matutle says Matjhabeng, which comprised Virginia, Welkom, Allanridge, Odendaalsrus and Ventersburg owes Sedibeng Water R80 million.
He says the Municipality, in turn, is owed R1.6 billion by residents, businesses, government departments, schools and farms.
Matutle says the situation cannot be allowed to continue.
