Table tennis takes top awards in NC─── CATHY DLODLO 08:18 Mon, 31 Aug 2015
Kimberley - Table tennis in the Northern Cape was crowned king when two players scooped the provincial department of Sport, Arts and Culture’s top awards last week.
Tsepang Mothelesi and José Pieterse - both table tennis players from Kimberley walked away with the top titles.
Mothelesi won the award – that included a R10 000 cash prize for Sportswoman of the year and Pieterse walked away with the award for Sportsman of the Year and Sport Star of the year. He received a total cash prize of R20 000.
The award ceremony, that was held this year for the first time, is going to become an annual event.
Sport, Arts and Culture MEC Lebogang Motlhaping said the province is proud of its athletes and hosting the event and showing support is the first step in appreciating what they do for the province. He also announced that the province is going to host the T20 Africa Cup next month.
