ANCYL FS nominates NW’s Collen Maine unopposed─── REFILWE GAESWE 12:24 Thu, 03 Sep 2015
Bloemfontein - The ANC Youth League (ANCYL) in the Free State has nominated North West’s Collen Maine as their new national president.
Provincial secretary Dikeledi Direko says Maine and others were nominated unopposed yesterday at a provincial general council meeting in Bloemfontein.
The league is scheduled to hold its national elective congress in Midrand, Johannesburg, from Friday to Sunday. Direko says 205 ANCYL delegates together with 35 Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) members are on their way to the conference and will be registering today. She says it is time to reinvent the youth league and bring fresh ideas.
Direko says the ANCYL was without a national leadership for two years after the disbandment of the league’s National Executive Committee (NEC). The provinces that have already held their provincial general council meetings include North West, the Northern Cape, the Free State, Limpopo, KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga. They all endorsed Maine, who is also the North West MEC for local government and human settlements.
