SADTU calls for urgent reinstatement of lecturers | News Article

Bloemfontein - The South African Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU) in the Free State has called for an urgent reinstatement of lecturers of Motheo TVET College in Bloemfontein.

The union picketed outside the college’s central campus in the city’s CBD yesterday, to hand over a memorandum to a representative of the Higher Education and Training department.

Some of the lecturers, and two deputy principals, have been suspended for over a year already. This follows allegations of corruption and loss of over R23 million. The union’s provincial secretary, Mokholoane Moloi, says they will continue to fight for their members.

The college’s principal, Dipiloane Phutsisi, says some of the cases of staff members are still being heard at the labour court. She says some of the employees have been reinstated, and some have been dismissed.
