Fourteen arrested for Bloemfontein violence─── MJ LOURENS 18:07 Wed, 23 Sep 2015
Bloemfontein - Fourteen people have been arrested for public violence after violence erupted in Heidedal and other parts of Mangaung, Bloemfontein, this morning.
One person was killed and another severely injured in alleged gang attacks.
Police spokesperson Billy Jones says they are investigating a case of murder and malicious damage to property, and another of attempted murder.
Jones says the situation is now calm, but tense. He says police remain on high alert and have been deployed in numbers in the affected areas. He has appealed to the community to stay calm and if they have any information available, to report it to the police.
Meanwhile a 23-year-old Kovsie student who went to a recording studio in Rocklands, says children were running away from their respective schools just to get away from possible danger. Sechaba Molekane says it was chaos.
