Children’s parliament to tackle tough issues─── THANDI XABA 12:52 Tue, 06 Oct 2015
Bloemfontein - The Department of Social Development has joined forces with the Nelson Mandela Foundation to award children from across the country the opportunity to host and participate in parliamentary debates.
Matters affecting children like child marriage, child killings and violence in schools will be some of the issues discussed by the young delegates.
According to the Director of Child Advocacy and Social Mobilisation at the department, David Chabalala, the goal of the children’s parliament is to create a channel for children’s participation in democracy and to provide them with a guided opportunity to influence policies.
The Free State Legislature will host the debate tomorrow.
