NSPCA expected to lay charges against farm manager | News Article
Rustenburg - Two NSPCA inspectors are expected to lay charges against National Council of Provinces chairwoman Thandi Modise's farm manager and spokesman after allegedly being threatened with violence at her farm.
Modise's pigs reportedly began eating each other from hunger earlier this month. The NSPCA had to euthanase 117, and confiscate 120 after 80 had died.

Beeld reports that Inspectors Grace de Lange and Burt Coetzee visited Modise's farm Modderfontein on Friday to evaluate the remaining animals. They were let in by a new farmworker and had just seen some of the animals when a man in a blue Golf raced up and shouted that they must get away from the cattle. De Lange said she recognised him as Neo Moepi, Modise's farm manager and spokesman from pictures she has seen.

At the gate the man who had let them in blocked their path and banged on the car window. During a struggle he took their car keys and reportedly threatened to kick the car and set it alight.

The NSPCA is also pursuing criminal charges over the animals' treatment.
