Neasa members to continue striking─── 06:02 Wed, 30 Jul 2014
Johannesburg - Although Labour Minister Mildred Oliphant has welcomed the end to the four-week metalworkers strike, one employer body has refused to sign the three-year wage agreement.
The National Employers' Association of South Africa (Neasa) has vowed to continue with a lock-out of striking workers after saying it had been sidelined in the negotiation process. Neasa comprises 22 members and employs about 70 000 workers.
Six unions and five of the seven employer bodies, including the main employer body, the Steel and Engineering Industries Federation of SA (Seifsa), signed the wage deal yesterday, which will give workers increases of between eight and 10 percent.
