Krejcir involved in Nyala crash | News Article

Johannesburg - A police Nyala transporting Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir has been in an accident, SABC news reported on Monday.

Krejcir was being transported to the Palm Ridge Magistrate's Court where he was due to appear on charges of dealing in drugs, attempted murder, and kidnapping.

The broadcaster reported he was not seriously injured. No further details were provided.

Gauteng police spokesman Brigadier Neville Malila and his colleague Captain Doniah Mothutsane could not immediately be reached for comment by Sapa.

Krejcir and five others -- Desai Luphondo, Warrant Officers Samuel "Saddam" Maropeng and George Nthoroane, Jan Lefu Mofokeng, and Siboniso Miya -- are accused of allegedly recruiting a man known as Doctor Nkosi to help smuggle 25kg of tik (methamphetamine) to Australia.

Nkosi worked for a cargo company at OR Tambo International Airport when he disappeared with the shipment.

Krejcir and his co-accused allegedly then kidnapped and tortured his brother Bheki Lukhele in a bid to have him reveal his sibling's whereabouts.

Nkosi has testified in the trial and confessed to stealing the drugs.
