Jiba in hot water, still AWOL─── 11:04 Wed, 25 Mar 2015
Pretoria - The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) says it is yet to locate its deputy head, Nomgcobo Jiba.
Neither the police nor Jiba's bosses have been able to find her since it emerged that she is due to be summonsed to appear in court on charges of fraud and perjury.
Reports suggest Jiba went awol after she was tipped off about the summons.
Officials say she is being sought for her alleged involvement in falsifying documents and lying in an affidavit that was used to charge KwaZulu Natal Hawks boss, Johan Booysen with racketeering.
Jiba is due to appear in the Pretoria Regional Court on April 21.
Booysen, who was head of the now-disbanded Cato Manor serious and violent crimes unit, had been charged, along with his former colleagues, of running a criminal enterprise.
Members of the unit are expected to stand trial on a range of charges, including 28 murder counts, later this year. They allegedly carried out paid hits in the KwaZulu-Natal minibus taxi wars.
Jiba said in her court papers that the unit acted like an organised crime organisation.
