Carl Pistorius 'not prosecuted' over crash | News Article

Pretoria - Carl Pistorius announced on Twitter that the NPA has decided not to prosecute him over a car accident in which he was seriously injured.

Pistorius had to be resuscitated after he was involved in a head on collision on the N1 near Modimolle last year. He had to be freed from the wreckage using the jaws of life.

He had apparently ruptured his heart and several other organs, as well as suffered severe injuries.

He recovered however and was able to attend the closing parts of his brother's trial.

He was facing a possible charge of reckless and negligent driving, after police had difficulty getting his statement on the accident.

"Because Pistorius's statement could not be obtained, the docket was sent to court containing these statements along with statements from the investigating officer stating that he had been unable to obtain Pistorius' statement," they said at the time, explaining why the prosecutor recommended charging him.

However the NPA now appears to have decided not to pursue the charge.

In May of 2014 Pistorius had been acquitted of culpable homicide in connection with an accident in 2008 - in which a motorcyclist died.
