Mthatha - Mandla Mandela, the grandson of the late former president Nelson Mandela, has been convicted on a charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily.
However, National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson, Luxolo Tyali, says Mandla Mandela was acquitted on a charge of pointing a fire-arm.
The charges stem from an incident in October, 2013, when he assaulted a teacher, Mlamli Ngudle, who crashed his car into a car driven by a guest of Mandela in Mthatha.
