Police closely monitoring Henri van Breda: report | News Article

Cape Town - A week after it emerged that axe attack survivor Marli van Breda is out of a rehabilitation facility and staying with friends, it has been reported that her brother Henri has gone to Klerksdorp.

Henri left for Klerksdorp about two weeks ago and police are said to be monitoring his movements closely, reported the Sunday Times.

Neither the police nor extended family will say why the surviving siblings have not been reunited, the newspaper stated.

Martin, 54, and 55-year-old Teresa van Breda and their oldest son, Rudi, 22, were killed with an axe between January 26 and 27 this year at their luxury house on the De Zalze golf estate outside Stellenbosch.

Marli, 16, survived the attack with wounds to her head and neck while 20-year-old Henri sustained light injuries.

On Friday, Eikestad Nuus reported that an arrest could be made within the next two weeks as enough forensic evidence had been gathered.

Police have been reluctant to give out too many details about the case, not even naming the victims.

Forensic investigation expert Johan Wessels told News24 that one reason investigators may be doing this is because the suspect could be someone close to the family.
