Nkandla investigation at 'advanced stage'─── 09:52 Sat, 16 May 2015
Cape Town - The Nkandla corruption investigation against President Jacob Zuma is in a "very advanced" stage, national police commissioner, Riah Phiyega, said on Friday.
“I think once it is done, we will engage with the NPA and I’m sure such progress will be reported [to the media].”
The investigation has been overseen by the police national chief detective Lieutenant General Vinesh Moonoo , since last year.
Moonoo was also the chief investigating officer in the murder case against Paralympian Oscar Pistorius.
The Nkandla file consists of a combination of several charges against the president and include charges of corruption related to the Nkandla scandal.
These charges were, last year, submitted to different police stations nationwide by the DA, the EFF after Public Protector Thuli Madonsela issued her Nkandla report.
Phiyega said the Hawks have also opened a Nkandla investigation after the Special Investigation Unit handed their Nkandla report handed to them.
