Unauthorised government spending increases to R11 billion─── 05:57 Thu, 04 Jun 2015
Cape Town - Auditor General Kimi Makwetu has cautioned that although overall financial management in municipalities has improved, unauthorised spending has increased to R11 billion this year compared to R8.5 billion last financial year.
Makwetu released the annual municipal audit outcomes in Parliament yesterday.
While the report tracks a slight decrease in the number of disclaimer audits received overall, 17% of all municipalities received a clean audit. This is an increase from 9% last year. Troy Lunde reports.
