Four to be sentenced for top artist's murder─── 10:46 Thu, 02 Jul 2015
Durban - Four men convicted of the murder of Durban artist Clinton De Menezes, who was shot while attending a New Year’s Eve party in Westville three years ago, will on Thursday be sentenced in the High Court in Durban.
The artist, who lived in Britain and had work exhibited in New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, had been lauded as a hero for saving his wife and daughter, locking them in a bathroom and out of harm’s way.
Siyabonga China Khoza and Tevin Lungani Ngidi, both 23, Bongani Makhathini, 26, and Ntokozo Selby Langa were found guilty of the murder last week.
The four had been sought by police after a series of break-ins in the plush Durban suburb, with residents reporting a suspicious meter taxi in all of the incidents.
The four were arrested after the taxi was pulled over on the N3 as it was leaving Durban.
