Telkom/Solidarity case heard in Labour Court─── 13:48 Tue, 07 Jul 2015
Johannesburg - Court proceedings in the case between Solidarity and Telkom are still underway at the Johannesburg Labour court.
This, as the union has taken the parastatal to court in a bid to save over 7 000 jobs that stand to be affected in Telkom’s retrenchment plans.
According to Solidarity's Johan Kruger, Telkom plans to cut its workforce by 4 400 employees through voluntary severance and early retirement packages. The plans also include outsourcing 3 000 employees to other companies by next month.
Kruger says the matter calls for urgent intervention, hence the court case.
