Durban - The IFP says it's shocked by the death of one of its ward chairpersons, who was shot near the KwaMashu hostel last night.
It is believed that Mbhasobheni Biyela (55) had been walking home from a branch executive meeting in the area when two suspects approached him and opened fire. He died on the scene.
The party's Blessed Gwala, who rushed to the scene shortly after the shooting, says it could have been prevented.
Gwala says they have been calling for official intervention into hostel murders in and around Durban for a long time.
