Green Paper on National Rail Policy to restructure SA's rail networks─── 08:26 Tue, 22 Sep 2015
Pretoria - Transport Minister Dipuo Peters says the aging infrastructure of the country's rail network is adversely affecting mobility and the economy.
Peters today launched the Green Paper on the National Rail Policy, saying that the bulk of the country's rail network is over 50 years old. She says the aim of the policy is to restructure the country's rail networks and make them the backbone for the transport of goods and cargo across the country.
Peters says this will reduce the number of trucks on South Africa's roads and in turn damage caused by the heavy duty vehicles.
