Bloemfontein - Argentina's men thrashed South Africa 5-1 at the hockey World Cup in The to guarantee themselves a spot in the semi-finals of the competition.
The convincing victory temporarily put Argentina top of group B, but slip down to second place after the Netherlands and the Black Sticks of New Zealand played to a one-all draw.
Australia and England have already reached the semi-finals having finished first and second in group A.
Meanwhile, The South African women’s hockey team have missed out on the play-offs LOSING 4-2 to the pool leaders, the USA, in their final group game yesterday.
