Belgium share the six-Test series with South Africa─── 11:59 Tue, 03 Feb 2015
Belgium leveled the six-test series against the South African women’s hockey team last night with a 3-1 win during the final match at Hartleyvale in Cape Town.
The result left the series tied at two games apiece, with two tests ending in a draw.
Belgium were 1-0 up in the 17th minute of the match but failed to hold on to the lead when the Proteas found the backboard through a Dirkie Chamberlain goal which leveled matters in the 34th minute.
The leading scorer in the series, Stephanie de Groof handed the visitors the lead against a mere two minutes later by converting a penalty corner.
Three minutes from time saw De Groof scored her brace though another penalty corner to hand the Belgians the win.
Proteas coach Sheldon Rostron feels his girls may have been tired after ten straight 10 matches…
The 10 tests in past two-weeks included a four-Test series against Chile as well.
